Focus Area Data- and Web-Science
A new research focus area on Data- and Web-Science is currently being established at the School of Business Informatics and Mathematics of the University of Mannheim. The focus area will consist of four professors which work closely together and jointly supervise a team of approximately 20 doctoral and postdoctoral researchers.

Research Goal
The central challenge of nowadays information society is to take advantage of the deluge of information that is available on the Web as well as in enterprise contexts. In order to support enterprises, research institutions and individuals to facilitate the available information for their needs, the participants of the focus area on Data- and Web-Science will conduct research on methods for managing, integrating and mining large-amounts of heterogeneous information within enterprise and open Web contexts.
